However, there is still this problem with the XML files exported from Sibelius. I think I could live with this arrangement. I have successfully export XML files from MuseScore now, and these open in Sibelius without errors and look quite good, despite being a newer version of XML than Sibelius is meant to be compatible with. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but if this is the case, then my whole plan is ruined :( It does seem bizarre though that MuseScore uses XML format, yet won't export it.įYI only Sibelius 7 has XML export built in.

The weird thing is since posting this I've realised it doesn't appear to be possible to export MuseScore files in any format other than MuseScore's own format. So my plan is to notate in MuseScore on my laptop running Linux and then, when it's finished and I want to create a beautiful audio file, transfer it to the iMac and put it into Sibelius for final touches. I have an iMac which I will be able to run Sibelius on, but I like to be able to work on scores on my laptop. However, my laptop is about to die and I want to get a laptop with Linux as my next computer, so my only music notation option is MuseScore. I'm a Mac user and have been using Sibelius for years - I love it, especially the sound library.

I'm fully aware this is a Sibelius issue not a MuseScore one, but as I said I can't log in to the Sibelius forums (I really, really can't.it's a long story.) so the only place I can ask for help is here. I downloaded it at the time I downloaded MuseScore, I forget where, but it was somewhere official in relation to MuseScore, as I far as I recall. No, there is a small plugin specifically designed to make it possible to export Sibelius files in a format that is compatible with MuseScore.
